What is LED Light Therapy?

LED light therapy uses safe, non-thermal light-emitting diodes (LEDs) in specific wavelengths (colours) to penetrate different skin layers. It stimulates cellular processes like collagen production, reduces inflammation, and promotes healing without damaging the skin surface. Common colors include:

• Red/Near-Infrared — for anti-aging, collagen boost, and healing.
• Blue — for acne and bacteria control.
• Green/Amber/Yellow — for pigmentation, redness, and calming. Treatments are relaxing, painless, and often combined with other services (e.g., after facials or before/after injectables).

Potential Side Effects & Risks

Common (very mild and rare): Temporary slight redness, warmth, dryness, or sensitivity that resolves quickly (hours to a day). Rare: Mild irritation, temporary flare of acne (purging phase in some cases), or eye strain if goggles not worn. No significant downtime or recovery needed. Serious complications are extremely uncommon—LED therapy does not use UV light and has no risk of burns or skin cancer when used appropriately.

Aftercare

• Minimal restrictions—you can resume normal activities immediately.
• Apply broad-spectrum SPF 30+ (preferably mineral) daily and avoid direct/intense sun exposure for 24–48 hours to protect sensitized skin.
• Use gentle, hydrating skincare; avoid harsh actives (e.g., strong acids, retinol) for 24 hours if your skin feels sensitive.
• Stay hydrated and moisturize well.
• No need to avoid makeup, exercise, or heat (saunas/showers) unless advised otherwise.

Important Notes

Safe for most people, including during pregnancy (consult first) and all skin tones. Contraindications are rare but include active photosensitive conditions, certain medications (e.g., photosensitizing drugs), epilepsy (if flashing lights used), or eye diseases involving the retina—full medical history required. Wear protective goggles during treatment. Results are gradual and cumulative; consistency is key. Great as a standalone glow booster or add-on to treatments like injectables.
